FIRE ON ONE END, FOOL ON THE OTHER (Week 10)
Have you ever really taken the time to look at an Ad and think, “wow, that was clever”, or “dang, that really hit me.” ? Ads can be very powerful messages. I came across one specifically that at one point in life would have really made me re-think my choices.
I was once a smoker, and although many people tried to convince me to quit, or give it up… I just wouldn’t. Quitting had to me on my time and my choice, so I thought. To me this particular ad is targeted to everyone, everyone who smokes. In particular though breaking it down, it seems smoking ads are targeted to the 18-24 age range… I can see this being true because starting smoking early can be more years of abuse and more money for the “big companies”. "The number of young people at moderate to high risk for established smoking increases throughout the teen years, with more people in the early stages of smoking initiation"(Facts)
Some keywords to use for this AD to me would be "SilentKiller" "Kickbutts" "Smoking" "Cancer"...Alll of these can relate to smoking or smokers. Some to promote the quitting too. I overall believe this ad was to get others thinking about how smoking can actually have such an impact on ones life, and overall health.
